Day Centres

At Nkovani New Moon Light Disability, we recognise that parenting a child with special needs can be a very challenging experience. One of our aims is to help alleviate some of this pressure. The Day Centres focus on giving all the children in our care the opportunity to develop to their fullest potential. We also provide a range of additional support and development services including meals, transport and social work type assistance.

Group Homes

Securing the future care for adults with intellectual disabilities is often a daunting task for their family members. Our groups enable us to provide safe and supervised group living accommodation for intellectually disabled persons, who are 18 or older, and would like to live independently. Our Group Homes provide a homely, family environment with access to social work and primary health care services. At our Group Homes residents are able to enjoy their own hobbies and activities of interest, participate in chores, and are also taken on social outings.

Adult Groups

The objective of the programme is to accommodate adults with intellectual disabilities that are over 18 years old and who cannot cope with a full day of work, but still have the right to the dignity of meaningful occupation, socialisation, life-skills training, and a high level of care and supervision. Our Adult Groups are based in Nkovani, cater for a niche group of men and women who are unable to work in the protective workshops, and are too old for our Day Centres. While daily activities include a degree of productive work, emphasis is instead placed on activities that alleviate the stress associated with a productive environment.
